Whether we are looking to better our health, lifestyle, environment or society, change can feel overwhelming. The largeness of some of the current challenges associated with these areas can discourage us even before we attempt to make change. However, it is important to keep in mind that we can effect positive and lasting change by taking it one small step at a time. Just as successive droplets of water can alter even rock surfaces over time, each positive action can add up - to an evolution.

Dream big, but start small. Our family is currently living on a little less than an acre, on the grid. We invite you to join us on our journey as we learn and re-learn, explore and experiment with practical ways to improve our everyday routines which, collectively, will positively impact our health, our communities, and the environment. Being more deliberate and hands-on in learning and practicing more sustainable approaches to eating and living has also greatly boosted our confidence. Knowing how to grow, harvest and cook our own food, how to reduce resource consumption, and how to recycle our waste into fertile soil and harvest rainwater gives us independence, and make us more resilient by being less reliant on largely fragile commercial food and energy delivery systems.

Our aim with this website is to help and inspire others to start and sustain change by sharing our learnings and experiences across the basic categories below. And because we want to encourage small steps, topics and instructions are largely organized into progressive steps, from “Simple/quick” to “All in”, depending on how fast and far you want to go. We also welcome your comments, suggestions and questions regarding any of the content, and hope that we can continue a dialog as we go through this journey together.
